About the Event
Two weeks ago Binsar Siahaan was detained by ICE at his home on church property in Silver Spring, MD. He is now being held at Irwin County Detention Facility in Georgia and faces deportation and permanent separation from his family and community as soon as October 2.
Baltimore ICE’s reckless actions pose a huge risk for Binsar and his family as well as immigrants throughout the country who are in sensitive locations such as schools, hospitals, and health facilities, or seeking sanctuary in faith communities. Binsar’s family is in need of support now as they navigate this tumultuous time.
We need to show solidarity and support to Binsar’s family still currently in their home in Silver Spring.
Join us for an interfaith vigil to reclaim the sacred space violated by ICE when they detained Binsar Siahaan on church property on September 10. Together with our neighbors, elected officials, and faith leaders, we will stand in solidarity with Binsar’s family and church and pray for his immediate release and stay of deportation.
Clergy please wear colors, stolls or other religious attire.
This vigil will follow social distancing measures. Please bring a mask, hand sanitizer, and signs with supportive messages.
Please register before hand for us to have a clear sense of number in attendance.
